Mary Mugure Kieru, missionary to Saudi Arabia. Please pray for Mary as she ministers there.
Hope Community Chapel near the Masai tribe, started by Pastor Edward Ngaira, center. When God called Pastor Edward to start Hope Chapel, there was no church structure or money for the church. The congregation met in the blazing equatorial sun. As they met for one year, the Lord has been providing. Today they are building two out houses.
Pastor Edward Ngaira interpreting for Jose in Swahili at the Kitengela Conference. Pastor Edward is also an apostle called to build and mentor churches in Kitengela. He will be leaving his family for one year to attend Bible school in New York, USA.
Pastor's dinner in Kitengela. Jose prayed and prophesied to Pastor John from Ghana who raised one from the dead. We also saw a video of some one being raised from the dead.
Jennifer and her family are from the Masai tribe. Jennifer is a Christian and attends Pastor Ngaira's church, Hope Community Chapel.
Praise and worship in Kitengela at the "Apostles and Prophets Conference". Jose prophesied to Pastor Mudaki that a spirit of revival had fallen and rested at Higher Ground Assembly on the second day of the conference. At last report the spirit of revival was still upon Higher Ground. This church was only three weeks old when Pastor Mudaki hosted the conference.
Praise and Worship at the Kintengela Conference. The body of Christ in Kenya praises the Lord with waving handkerchiefs as banners to the Lord, chairs lifted above heads, dancing, jumping, intercession, and shouting.
The praise and worship team at the Kitengela conference. Within this group there is one apostle called to teach leaders in the USA, and calls to Saudi Arabia, China, the United Kingdom, the West Indies, and the USA.
Pastor and Mrs. Mudaki's living/ dining room.
Mrs. Mudaki in her kitchen. The thermos were for our hot coffee, porridge, and hot tea ( The Swahili word for tea is chai!). Mrs. Mudaki has three one burner stoves. One is kerosene, the other is coal, and the other one is gas. The simplicity of life of the Kenyan church allows for undistracted service to the Lord.
Mary photographed the chicken being killed and then plucking out the feathers. I decided not to put those photos on the site!
Fresh fruit every day, at every meal, in both homes, at both conferences!
Mrs. Irene Mudaki buying a chicken for the dinner. Refrigerators are very rare in Kenya. The food is thus bought and cooked daily. Meals are very fresh and delicious!
Our dear friends Charles and Lorna. Just newlyweds, they took their whole living room set, their main picture, stereo radio, and an extra bed and put it into our barren apartment for the five days that we were in Kitengela.
Mary and Lorna. Lorna is pregnant in her six month. In our five days in Kitengela, she cooked for us sumptuous breakfasts and brought them downstairs to us. Fried eggs, chopped tomatoes, avocados, bread and butter, porridge, coffee and tea. We had no hot water for showers and were happy to use the the cold water. Lorna, however, heated water for us and brought it downstairs daily. First a batch for Mary, and then one for me. When our apartment totally ran out of water in the last three days of our visit, Lorna hauled drums of water to us from upstairs.
A Christian boarding school of approximately two hundred teen age girls where Mary taught. When Jose saw the teenagers, the Lord spoke to him; " a mighty army!". The next generation of Christians to be raised up in Kenya. Who will go?
Pastor Mudaki and Mary praying for the teenagers. Many were crying, and many of the prayer requests were for a deeper walk with the Lord.
Pastor Richard Mathu, second from right, and his church, Glory Outreach Assembly. When the Lord called Pastor Richard to start Glory Outreach, there was nothing. For one year he and his growing congregation have assembled here . As of today, the Lord has provided the wooden frame for the church and yellow tarpaulin for the walls. The benches were donated just recently. The church can sit 500. When bills had to be met, Pastor Richard sold his car, the luxury of the few. The Lord provided another car for him. Pastor Richard was our main chauffer in Kitengela. He also is called to China. By faith, last year, he went to Pastor Cho's church of 200,000 in South Korea to learn. On a simple wooden board he has a picture of Reinhard Bonkke's crusade of 1,000,000 in Africa. This is the level of his vision. The Lord had me prophesy to him to look beyond the walls of his church.
Jose dedicating a child at the conference.
Jose and Mary praising the Lord. Pastor Mudaki is in the background.
Jose teaching in Kitengela at the "Apostolic and Prophetic" Conference'. We had a 10:30AM , 12:15PM, and a 6:00PM teaching session. Because of the hunger for the Word, we added another session at 3:30PM, all on top of the daily 5:00 AM prayer session for the day's sessions.
Pastor Wycliff Mudaki and Mrs. Irene Mudaki, and baby Victoria. Pastor and Mrs. Mudaki of Higher Ground Assembly were our gracious hosts in Kitengela, Kenya. Higher Ground was just three weeks old when Pastor Mudaki hosted the five day "Apostolic and Prophetic Conference" from February 21- February 25, 2003. The church meets at the Hotel Spiral Conference Center.
Mrs. Irene Mudaki and daughter Victoria born at exactly 12:00PM on December 25th, 2003.
Pastor Wycliff Mudaki and baby Vickie.
Mary eating one of the sumptuous meals at Pastor Nelson and Mrs. Peris Ngunyi's home. Mrs. Ngunyi is on the right. Pauline, on the left, polished Jose's shoes every morning for the conference.
Eating it up at the Ngunyi's. Our stellar chef is Faith who is in the center of the picture. Faith is married and has a family yet she was at the Ngunyi's by 6:30 AM daily to cook breakfast for us. She also cooked dinner and would not go back home until after 9:00PM. Twice she did not go home to her family, but spent the night over to be at our service.
We had a crusade after each of the five afternoon meetings in the Kasarani conference. Sixteen people were added to Joy Grace Celebration Church by the end of the conference
The lady on the left, Lily Wangari, had severe problems with her legs. In one of the crusades, she could hardly walk. Jose rebuked disease from her legs. Jose's Swahili interpreter, William, told her to run. She was instantaneously healed. She went to the doctor who certified that her legs were healed. She now attends Pastor Ngunyi's church.
Jose is celebrating his 50th birthday in Kenya. This is the best birthday present that he could have asked for! Faith, who made the wedding cake for Pastor and Mrs. Ngunyi, made his birthday cake. The drinks are fresh fruit juices such as papaya and mango that we enjoyed daily at the Ngunyi's home.
It is the custom in Kenya to feed the one celebrating a piece of cake. Jose did not trust Pastor Ngunyi. He was sure that Pastor would smash it into his face. Mrs. Ngunyi fed him instead.
Pastors at the Kasarani conference. Tbis conference was virtually all pastors. Wherever Mary and I went to in both conferences, pastors' dinners, or even in and out of our apartments, pastors such as these ones, and other men and women of God, competed amongst themselves for an opportunity to carry our briefcases, Bibles, and cameras. We were offered the best seats at homes, served first, and given bottled water. How much Mary and I have to learn from these mighty and humble servants of God.
Pastor Nelson Ngunyi on the left, Mary, and Patrick , our chauffer at the Kasarani conference, on the right. Transportation in Kenya is a major walk of aith. Very few have cars because of their high cost. The order of the day is to walk. Many pastors walk to their congregations. The other mode of transportation is the "matatu."Matatus , are Toyota vans that carried up to twenty passengers for a cheap fare. Because of the danger of so many people, the government has limited their capacity to 14 people. Every one must now wear a seat belt. This has raised the fares of the matatus 200%. Mary and I had the extreme privilege of having an automobile at our service all the time. The car in the background belongs to Pastor Ngunyi's friend, Ephantus. Patrick would drop Ephantus at his job every day and then take his car for the rest of the day, for our benefit. On two occassions, Mrs. Peris Ngunyi, pregnant in the fourth month, and not feeling well, walked home on dirt roads, two miles, so that Mary and I could have the car. We had not known about it.
Delicious lunch prepared daily for all the participants of the Kasarani conference! Pastor Ngunyi many times had no more that $3. 00 in his pocket. Yet, by faith, the Lord provided lunch for the 50-100 participants at the conference for 5 days.
Lunch time at the Kasarani conference!
Jose with pastors from Kisumu, Western Kenya, two hundred miles from Nairobi. A portion of our second conference will be in Kisumu. These pastors stayed at the home of Maurice and Benter Odhiambo in Nairobi.
The Kasarani Conference on "Victorious Christian Living" made up mostly of pastors. Mary and I were amazed to find out that one of the primary reasons why God called us to Kenya is because there is a harvest of apostles in Kenya. Halfway through the conference, the Lord spoke to us to teach on apostles and then commission them. Many at the Kasarani conference came forward. Three out of the five prophetical words that we gave in Kenya had to do with finances. Finances are needed to send these men and women of God throughout the world.
Jose teaching at the Kasarani Conference.
From left to right. Pastor Sammie Kariuki, Joy Celebration Church, Kiserian, East Kenya; Jose; a pastor whose home we went to; Bishop Jake, assistant overseer to the 39 Joy Celebration churches of Kenya; Pastor and Mrs. Ngunyi. During one of our lunch breaks, we prayed for the child of the pastor pictured here. His son was totally paralysed and must be fed. Two weeks later the child was beginning to eat normally!
Pastor Sammie Kariuki Mwangi, his wife Beth, and his son Francis. Pastor Sammie, pastors one of the 39 Joy Celebration Churches in Kiserian, East Kenya. Kiserian, is a home to the Masai tribe. Part of their congregation therefore are the Masais of Kenya. With only a few dollars in his pocket, Pastor Sammie left his family and his church for a week, to attend the Kasarani conference. By the time that he got to Kasarani he had nothing in his pocket. Brethren in the Lord gave him lodging. Pastor Sammie ate with us at the Ngunyi's. From the time that we met him we witnessed that he is one of the most humble men of God that we have met. During our time with Pastor Sammie, the Lord spoke a strong prophetical word in Jose's spirit about him. The Lord said "Apostle". Pastor Sammie has been called to 35 countries and 42 tribes as an apostle.
Pastor Nelson Kahoro Ngunyi and Mrs. Peris Ngunyi, our gracious hosts of the first conference in Kasarani, Kenya, "Victorious Christian Living" from February 16-20th, 2004. The Ngunyi's gave up their bedroom and bed which had been a wedding present, for Mary and I, during our 5 day stay with them. He has a vision of a mobile truck with a stage and public address system so that we can do conferences through out Kenya and Africa.
Pastor Maurice Odhiamboand Mrs. Benter Odhiambo. Pastor Maurice is the director of Manna Ministries, Kenya. Manna Ministries, publishes Bible studies of superb quality throughout Kenya and a number of African countries. Jose is working with Pastor Maurice to provide Manna Ministries with Bible studies. Pastor Maurice printed the seminar curriculums for all participants in both of the conferences. He also kept Mary and I, and our children, in constant E mail communication. He, and Mrs. Odhiambo, will be the hosts of our second conference in Kisumu, Western Kenya. Mrs. Benter Odhiambo, just got her driver's license to take continual supplies from Nairobi, to Kisumu, 200 miles away, to orphan children of AIDS parents.
Pastor Maurice and Mary
Bishop Joseph Njogu, center, and Mrs. Bishop, with an English interpreter on the left.
Bishop Njogu is the overseer to the 39 Joy Celebration churches in Kenya. Though a busy man, he took out time to inaugurate our conference. We were touched by their humility. Mrs. Bishop asked us to pray for one of their children. He, and Mrs. Bishop, do not like to preach in English thinking that that their English is not good. It is quite good! I think that we encouraged them to preach in English more!
